Wood Fired Pots

White Wood Fired Vase

I recently had the opportunity to participate in a wood firing of some of my pots. I helped in the process of splitting and stacking firewood for the weekend-long venture. It was invigorating and felt like I was really  doing something special. Thanks to Susan Hershey of Pigeon Hill Pottery!

Sugar Bowl and Mug from the Wood Firing

Unfortunately, the firing took place when I was leaving for California, the weekend of my birthday. So this firing is extra special to me as it took place that weekend – although I was there in spirit as my pots had flames thrown about them to create a unique, one-of-a kind feel.

Even though I was not there for the 15 hour long firing, where those manning the kiln kept the fire going stoking and loading logs to keep up the temperature to reach above 2,000 degrees Farenheit. It’s a labor of love. And I was there in spirit with my pots.

Next firing is Memorial Day Weekend, and I am making a promise to myself to be there for the whole event. It’s so exciting!

These pots will be listed at my Etsy shop for sale for those interested. I will be working on listing these over the next day or so.

Happy February…..as we head into March …. I can smell Spring in the air even if we have snow on the way. XO Lisa
