This weekend I had a rare occasion to visit my home state of Maine. Sat by a wood stove mostly, talking and listening and talking and listening with my best old friend Helen. We knew each other since we were 4.
While in Maine, I had the extra special treat of going to the King Eider Pub in Damariscotta to listen to my friend Steve Jones (where he and 2 other musicians have a regular gig from 1 to 3 pm on Sundays). It was such a pleasure to be cozied up in the small pub surrounded by Maine folks who know what real community is all about.
The music of Steve Jones is soulful and just warmed my heart. He sings a good deal of pain and all the things we live through and come out the other end. But he also surprised us with a rendition of “It was Only a Paper Moon” that I will not soon forget.
Steve is a really private, humble person who is not one to toot his own horn, so I would like to toot it for him. I found a video on YouTube which is accompanied by one of his songs (which you can find on his new album).
Steve Jones of Maine is one of the most talented singer / song writers I have known. He breaks life down to its core in his music. His music can be purchased through Cornmeal Records and Bull Moose of Brunswick, Maine. Keep an ear out for his music as I think his new album is one of his very best and will be spreading like wild fire.
You won’t be sorry if you pick up his cd….I can’t tell you how many times it has looped around in my car or at my friend’s house over the weekend…..it gets better and better!
Happy Monday , yep, that’s what I said XO Lisa

There really is nothing quite like good music. If I go too long without music I start to go a little batty. It sounds like a super cozy, magical weekend in Maine!
